New film: Save Lamu from fossil fuels campaign!

When the Kenyan government announced plans to build a coal-fired power plant in the world heritage site of Lamu Island, Kenya, local communities were concerned about the impact this would have on the environment and their livelihoods. They started campaigning against the building of the coal plant, and built an international coalition of organisations calling for the plans to be halted. The Big Shift Global campaign supported their efforts through our campaigning towards the African Development Bank, calling on them not to fund this coal plant, or any other fossil fuel power. After years of fighting the campaign was successful, and all plans to build the coal power plant in Lamu have been stopped. Watch the story of the campaign in this video:
